First Volunteer Bank considers customer information security a main concern. We incorporate the latest technology and abide by all regulations set forth by our industry. Furthermore, with the rapid advancement of information technology, we continue to monitor and apply the latest security measures. The procedures we have in place include password and firewall protection, as well as a 128-bit key Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to keep your information confidential.

First Volunteer Bank wishes to make your on-line banking experience an enjoyable and confident one.

Password Protection
When logging onto your on-line system, your PIN (Personal Identification Number) appears in asterisks. This PIN is then encrypted for transmission and sent to First Volunteer Bank where it is stored on our system. To prevent physical password tampering, a lockout feature is enabled for an indefinite amount of time after the fifth unsuccessful attempt.

Simple routines you can use to further ensure password security are:

  • Do not share ID's and passwords.
  • Use passwords that contain alphabetic and numeric characters, as well as punctuation and random capitalization.
  • Do not use a person's or pet's name or related to a hobby.
  • Change password often (every 90 days).
  • Do not write down passwords for display.

Firewall Protection
Firewalls act as gateways that select the traffic that is/is not allowed to pass in or out of our networks. This traffic selection is based on the configurations set by our system administrators as policies or rules. These policies or rules are established by First Volunteer Bank to make certain we deliver the highest protection available.

Secure Socket Layer
Communication through a browser with the ability to encrypt data is a must. First Volunteer Bank requires the highest form of encryption, a 128-bit encryption browser, to access our Internet Banking System. All traffic following the initial connection is encrypted using a key and an encryption algorithm. This method of encrypted communication is performed by the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. Customers can be confident that First Volunteer Bank has gone to great lengths to offer the most secure connection possible at firstvolunteer.com.
